Temperament
The temperament of a Mudi can vary widely between lineage or even individual dogs. Some can be nervous, while others reactive, it is important when looking into this breed to meet or ask a lot of questions regarding parents and pedigree. The average Mudi should be able to meet new people and dogs without shying away or being nervous, at the very least be able to ignore them. Initial meetings with new people or dogs can be met with aloofness, however when the Mudi acquaints itself they can be easy going, playful dogs.
With his family, the Mudi is a loving and open dog, wanting to please and learn. Some mudi struggle with fear periods, it is important to socialise your Mudi from a young age to help them grow into a well rounded adult. When tasked with an objective Mudi can be intense, not stopping until they have complete their goal. They have grown in popularity in recent years for Agility thanks to their speed, power and determination. It should, however be noted that while there are successful Mudi competing in Agility, there are also those who despite being with experienced handlers have not had a solid enough temperament to ever make it to competitions.
